Benefits and Applications
Ethanol goes into a wide variety of applications. Although the complete list is very lengthy, major applications include hair spray, perfume, surfactants, cleaning solutions, pharmaceuticals and plastics.
Toxicology/Regulatory
In addition to pure 190 and 200 proof, Equistar produces a wide variety of industrial ethanol formulas as regulated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BATF). Products include specially denatured alcohols (SDAs), several proprietary solvent grades and completely denatured alcohols (CDAs).
Manufacturing Facilities
Equistar Punctilious® 190 and 200 proof ethanol is synthetically produced at our Tuscola, Illinois site, located 150 miles south of Chicago.
The key raw material, ethylene, is delivered via pipeline from Equistar's Morris, Illinois petrochemical complex, which is 50 miles southwest of Chicago.
Equistar denatures the pure product for a variety of customer applications at its Tuscola and Newark, New Jersey facilities.
